SPRING MILLS - With two established facilities and another under construction, Kelley and Jennifer Rankin recently opened their fourth physical therapy center within the Eastern Panhandle.
Located in Spring Mills, the fourth Rankin’s Physical Therapy opened March 31 after Kelley Rankin received numerous requests from area patients for a facility closer to home, with most of the patients traveling to the Martinsburg facility.
“For the past four or five months, our patients have been asking us, so we decided about three months ago to go ahead and make the move. ... It only took us a few months to complete (the center),” Kelley Rankin said.
“The reception’s actually been more positive than I thought it would be starting out. We have the advantage of people knowing us in the community, the physicians and community members themselves,” he said.
With the opening of the Spring Mills location, the Rankins will be changing the title of the Martinsburg facility from “Shenandoah Valley Physical Therapy” to “Rankin Physical Therapy” to more clearly establish a brand.
While the Spring Mills center will offer traditional physical therapy services, Rankin has added two new services. Residents can now receive speech therapy and occupational outpatient services, conducted by area therapists.
“It gives the (two therapists) a place to see patients, and it just expands the services that we provide, which physicians are very happy with. We’re already going to (add those services) in Martinsburg, we’re hoping to add them in Berkeley Springs, but also in Hedgesville when it’s built,” Kelley Rankin said.
The Rankins began the process to build a new physical therapy and wellness center in Hedgesville in February 2013.
While the original opening date for the facility was before winter 2013, new estimates predict the Hedgesville facility will open by late September or early October.
“It took a while to get everything done, just going through the planning commission, financing and the weather, the weather caused pretty big delays ... but now site work is 85 percent complete. They’ll be digging footers for the foundation within the next two weeks, and the building will be coming up from the ground within the next month,” Kelley Rankin said.
The facility will be 8,200 square feet and contain features such as a heated pool, therapy area and a wellness area for patients who finish their physical therapy regime but still want to remain active.
The physical therapy center in Berkeley Springs opened in 2001, and the Shenandoah Valley Physical Therapy in Martinsburg opened in 2004.
The Spring Mills facility, located at 5724 Hammonds Mill Road, is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and can be contacted at 304-274-0123.Find this interesting or helpful? Share it!
